Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She released her first EP on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she gained recognition. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her first music on the internet in 2012. She dropped the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes featuring the track Sweat it Out. The following year, her songs were circulating among the Dreamville team because J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a track that she sang along with Cozz to record the Revenge of the Dreamers II album that they co-produced. In October 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change in 2017 and also as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared as a guest performer on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas' Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video followed by a music video in September. In November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she dropped two more singles titled One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, which was then released as a single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album the same title. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released to accompany the track. It already has more than three million viewers on YouTube during its initial week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK as part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
